This is my first attempt of creating an intense short video with parts of the footage I recorded in Poland in early june 2010. I created this video only to get an idea how I could edit the final piece. The final piece aims to promote a race simulator developped by two polish students. There will be two cars (Lamborghini and Mitsubishi) racing each other on a racing circuit, steered by guys on the simulator. The interplay between fiction and reality will be the essential point of the video.

This is only a rough edit without any colour corrections or effects.

LINKING INTERFACES

We live in an increasingly multicultural world full of various points-of-view and differences. The world today is faced with many social, political, and interfaith issues, which throw up problems demanding for innovative and sensitive solutions.

LINKING INTERFACES aims to debunk at least some of our dearestheld prejudices by merging ten different nationalities and languages. The project was developed in collaboration between two students, Joël Kuhn (Media Arts) and Philipp Condrau (Graphic communication with Typography).

The main attempt is to break down interfaces between the different mediums and techniques from both courses but also to merge cultural stereotypes and clichés to one piece – Visual Music.

SOUND MEMO®Y

In the module (MEDI 262) each student was expected to create a one-minute animation. I decided to create an abstract and minimal piece of work where I set the main emphasis on the interplay between sound and image. The video is a transformation of the world widely famous game Memory into a sound-animation.

The crazy inventor – A-Level final project

For my final project at the ROJ (A-Level), I made an image spot for the website of Kuhn Bieri AG, a company which sells and rent devices in the rehabilitation area. The low budget production (2000 Swiss Franks) was produced wiith support of TWIN Productions (Film production house).

Synopsis
A crazy inventor (Marco Michel) develops an innovative future-dress, which enables an old man (Roland Keller) to stay in excellent shape.

Sparrow Promo-Video

I’m currently involved in a polish feature film called “Sparrow” which is about a group of young people, going camping in the deep forest and soon they realise they’re not alone there…

On the 6th, 7th and 8th tere was the casting for the actors in London, which I filmed and edited to a promotional video in order to get sponsors and for the whole making of Sparrow.

Linking Interfaces – Studio Making Of

For my final experimental project in MEDI259 I intend to create a short music clip about students of different nationalities. The clip is aimed to be a combination of different electronic mediums like video, graphic, typography and music. In collaboration with Philipp Condrau (Graphic Design and Typography student) I would like to break down the interfaces between the media to one single medium Visual Music. The name of this project will be “linking interfaces” as it refers to the technical aspect but also to the visuals we actually see and its content – real FACES of international students and stereotypes they face in a foreign country.

In the video studio we were filming ten international students’ faces. There was no specific advice what they have to do in front of the camera. We just asked them some general questions about the country they come from and let them introduce themselves in their own language. In post production the footage will be fragmented into little samples in order to create the music.

NIGHT SHIFT ON CHRISTMAS – short documentary film

A short documentary film about night work at Bierhübeli the popular culture club in Bern, Switzerland.
The main point of my documentary was to give the audience the opportunity to see the night workers and in this way provoke them to contemplate on work of people who are behind the bar and dance floor. Work at the disco or pub isn’t considered as a serious job, and often people doing it are thought not to work at all. On the other hand, I gave the night workers the chance to speak for themselves and present their occupation the way it really is.

An old man (Hans Witschi) is tired of bleak and dreary everyday life. He needs a change in his life to get rid of his loneliness. This inner urge leads him to invent a new language which becomes henceforth the center of his life. But what happens to his loneliness?

Based on a short story by Peter Bichsel of the same title, the film
“a table is a table” spellbinds and yet moves the viewer with its characteristic monotony. Marc Hayoz, tutor ROJ

This film is Christoph Jehle and Joel Kuhn’s graduation piece from the vocational school ROJ.

Miniature Volume 2
